How do we put a video wall through procurement — which classifier codes apply?
Split the project into separate line items rather than one bundled position: the software licence, the server hardware and the display panels fall into different classifier groups, and separate lines keep the licence portable when the hardware is refreshed later. Exact codes depend on the customer's accounting policy, so request them from the supplier in writing together with the commercial proposal — that is normal practice, not an unusual ask.
How long does a turnkey video wall project take?
8 to 16 weeks from contract signature to go-live. Small NOC walls (8 LCD panels, existing room) — 8 weeks. Mid-scale dispatch centres (16–24 LCD, light room rework) — 10–12 weeks. LED video walls in conference halls or lobbies with custom dimensions and structural work — 14–16 weeks. Display lead times (LCD 4–6 weeks, LED 6–10 weeks) are typically the critical path.
How much does a turnkey 8-display LCD video wall cost?
From 3.5M ₽ ($38K) for a standard NOC dispatch room: 8 LCD panels (Samsung VH55R or LG LSAA class, ~150K ₽ each = 1.2M ₽), server with pre-installed Craft Wall (1.5M ₽), wall frame and mounting (200K ₽), cabling and electrical (200K ₽), commissioning and acceptance tests (300K ₽), basic operator training (100K ₽). Premium options (mature manufacturer warranty, Astra Linux, 24×7 support, advanced integrations) push toward 5–6M ₽.
LED or LCD — which is better for a control room?
LCD for most cases. Operator viewing distance in control rooms is 1.5–3 m; LCD pixel pitch (0.27 mm at 55″ 4K) gives sharper text than even fine-pitch LED. Bezels are now 0.44 mm — visible only if you're looking for them. LED only makes sense if you need (a) custom dimensions or shapes, (b) ≥5 m viewing distance, (c) 24/7 operation at high brightness, or (d) the aesthetic. Cost ratio: LED runs 3–5× higher than equivalent LCD area for indoor control-room pixel densities.
Why turnkey instead of self-integration?
Three reasons. (1) Single SLA — if something breaks, you don't argue whether it's software, hardware, or installer's fault. One contract, one accountable party. (2) Speed — integrator already has supply relationships, mounting crews, commissioning teams. Self-integration adds 4–8 weeks for procurement and learning curve. (3) Regulatory — for КИИ-objects and government procurement, certified software (Реестр Минцифры) and equipment (Russian-origin certificates) need to come from an entity that can hold a contract on behalf of both. Self-integration works if you already have an AV/IT department doing it routinely.
Can the supplier be vendor-agnostic in display choice?
Yes — that's the integrator advantage over single-vendor turnkey solutions (Christie, Barco, Polywall + Polymedia).
